Believers come to partake in the sacred act of taking a dip in the holy waters of the River Ganges, firmly believing that it cleanses them of all sins. Haridwar is particularly renowned for hosting the grand spiritual gathering, the Kumbh Mela, considered the largest event of its kind on Earth. Upon visiting the revered Har-Ki-Pauri in Haridwar, proceed to Rishikesh. This locale is cherished by both foreign tourists and locals for its authentic ambiance. As the day progresses, engage in another session of Yoga and Meditation in the evening. Meditation, defined as awareness, encompasses various activities free from distractions, fostering a tranquil state of mind. 6
    Day : Amritsar

After breakfast we first visit Golden Temple, also known as Gurudwara Harmander Sahib, or Darbar Sahib. Constructed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the visionary founder of the Sikh Empire, the Golden Temple earns its name from the 750 kilograms of pure gold adorning its upper domes. As we approach the main temple entrance, a walkway flanked by pools filled with sacred water awaits. Devout Sikh men and women partake in purifying baths, considering the water spiritually cleansing. Notably, all pilgrims to the Golden Temple are graciously offered a complimentary meal, courtesy of one of the world’s largest kitchens, serving 100,000 meals daily. The ambiance inside the temple resonates with continuous hymns and music, fostering an atmosphere of profound devotion and tranquillity.

Our tour continues to Akal Takht, the immortal throne established in the 17th century by the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Ji. Subsequently, we visit Jallianwala Bagh, a poignant site that bore witness to a brutal act by the British colonial rulers in India. In 1919, General Dyer and a troop of 90 soldiers opened fire on a peaceful gathering of 1500 people celebrating the Indian festival of ‘Baisakhi.’

We will conclude the day with an overnight stay, reflecting on the historical and cultural significance of these impactful sites.

    7
    Day : Amritsar – Dharamshala (200 Km, 5 Hours)

In the morning, our journey takes us to Dharamshala, a charming hill station nestled in the Kangra Valley, offering breath-taking vistas of the snow-capped Dhauladhar Mountain Range in the Himalayas. Serving as the seat of The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists, Dharamshala became a refuge for those who escaped Tibet in 1959 during the Chinese takeover and sought sanctuary in India. With a population exceeding 10,000 Tibetans, Dharamshala boasts numerous Tibetan monasteries, organizations, schools, and nunneries.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we embark on an afternoon visit to the Tibetan Refugee Camp. Here, you have the opportunity to engage with the local Tibetan community, and gain insights into their lifestyle and the political challenges confronting their homeland. The camp welcomes volunteers from various countries who contribute by offering language classes and computer training to Tibetan children. If interested, you can also become a volunteer by submitting an advance request to the camp.

Later in the day, we explore Dal Lake and the Naddi sunset point, treating ourselves to breath-taking panoramic views of the valley and the majestic snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas. Conclude the day with an overnight stay, immersed in the serene ambiance of this Himalayan haven.

    8
    Day : Dharamshala

After breakfast at the hotel, our first destination is the Dalai Lama Temple, serving as the official residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The temple exudes an atmosphere of profound peace and meditation, adorned with exquisite statues of Lord Buddha, Avalokiteshvara, and other revered figures. Within the temple, you can partake in meditation within the expansive meditation hall, and engage in Buddhist rituals such as turning the prayer wheels to accumulate merit and purify your ‘karma.’ Additionally, explore the temple library that houses preserved ancient sacred texts and provides insights into Buddhist philosophy.

Our journey continues to the Bhaksu Nag Temple, a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The sacred site features two pools of water believed to possess healing properties due to their sulfur content. The temple hosts an annual fair in September, drawing tourists from around the globe. Adjacent to the temple lies the Bhaksu Nag Waterfall, a picturesque waterbody enveloped by dense deodar and cedar trees, offering breath-taking views. Conclude the day with an overnight stay, immersed in the tranquil surroundings. Overnight stay.

    Hi Rinki,

Just wanted to say thank you for all the organisation for our India trip. Everything went very smoothly. Our vehicles, drivers and accommodation were all faultless.

Look forward to our next trip now whenever that may be.

I’d like to just comment on one thing… please encourage clients to do Chittorgarh as a day trip. The accommodation there must’ve been really good at some point but is quite run down now. They were lovely and very obliging but when we compare the accommodations it wasn’t the best.

I know I’d said I wanted a night in Chittorgarh but I wasn’t as conversant with availability there as someone who knows the areas more.

Thank you once again from my mum, massi and I.

Best wishes and regards to your team,

Ps. Next visit we must meet!! 🙂

    8 March 2020
    Good morning Rinki,
Emily and I are home now, and we would like to thank you for organising what turned out to be a wonderful trip. We enjoyed visiting all the various places, and the hotels were comfortable. People were very friendly and helpful. The pace of the trip was perfect, travelling but not exhausting. The driver Chandra was very good and I would have no issue with recommending him as a driver. He was very polite, punctual, and courteous. We felt he was a very safe driver, and would like to extend our thanks to him as well. With the benefit of hindsight, I would have stayed an extra day or two in Verkala rather than the extra days in Mumbai, but that is as I say with the benefit of hindsight. Once again, thank you so very much for all your help in organising this trip for us, which we will remember fondly for many years to come.

    Dear StateExpress
To whom it may concern, we are writing you regarding the package booked with andanitravel for the India golden triangle from the 01/03/2020 to the 11/03/2020. On the 4th of March ’20 the staff from the Sher Gary Resort in Road Village Sherpur, Khilchipur, Rajasthan 322001, Ranthanbore, following the Advise from the Government of Rajasthan, invited us to leave the resort and the State of India as soon as possible due to our Italian Nationality. Immediately we contacted the DCM Italy of Rajasthan, Mr Carini, who told us there was a mistake and the Advise number 27 of the 4th of March 2020 was withdrawn with immediate effect. Although we informed on a timely manner the resort staff, we have been asked to leave anyhow. Only after the DCM Italy informed the resort about the mistake, we have been given the opportunity to leave the resort the following morning. All these difficulties, the constant hostility by the people in India despite the advise number 28, the decision made by the State Express emergency contact( Harish Bhatt) to interrupt our trip and the news regarding the spread of COVID-19 in India, induced us to arrange autonomously for a flight back home as soon as possible. At least but not last we kindly ask you to let us know of any official way to provide a positive feedback to the great support, empathy, help, kindness, professionalism, flexibility and special assistant given by the driver Mr Ashok Yadav in the sphere of his competences.
